Fanno Flow is the adiabatic flow of a compressible fluid through a constant-area duct with the effects of wall friction considered.

Characteristics

  • Friction causes entropy to increase.
  • Flow tends towards M=1M=1 (choking) regardless of whether it is initially subsonic or supersonic.
